Senior Leadership

Michael Pratt



Chief Operating Officer and Interim CEO

Mike Pratt joined FBC in 1990 and is responsible for daily operations throughout the organization’s 21-county service area. He also is FBC’s authorized point of contact for all regulatory-compliance issues involving the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. He received his undergraduate degree in medical technology from the University of Iowa and master’s degree in laboratory management from Georgia State University. He is certified as a Specialist in Blood Bank Technology by the American Society of Clinical Pathology. From 1966 to 1990, he was a Medical Service Corps officer in the U.S. Navy and was decorated for his service in the Vietnam War. Pratt retired from the Navy with the rank of captain.

 

John E. Murphy, Jr.



Chief Financial Officer

John E. Murphy, Jr. joined FBC in 2011 and is responsible for all financial aspects of the organization as well as human resources, training/development, health/safety and facilities and procurement. From 1981 to 2010 he worked at Darden Restaurants, where he rose to the position of senior vice president with responsibility for finance, real estate development, purchasing and distribution, information technology and mergers and acquisitions. From 1977 to 1981 he was a senior consultant at Arthur Andersen and Co., specializing in health care, manufacturing, restaurants and state and local government. Murphy is a Certified Public Accountant and received his undergraduate degree in Accounting from the University of South Florida. His community involvement includes an 11-year term on the Health Central Hospital Board of Trustees, where he also served as chair, and previous service as treasurer of the West Orange Committee of 101 and president of the Winter Garden Heritage Foundation.


Richard R. Gammon, M.D.



Medical Director

Dr. Richard R. Gammon joined FBC in 2005 and is responsible for ensuring that the organization’s medical practices, policies and testing remain at the forefront of the blood-banking industry. He received his undergraduate degree from Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania and medical degree from Hahnemann University in Philadelphia. He completed his residency at The Ohio State University and his fellowship at the University of Virginia. He also serves as an assistant professor of pathology at the University of Central Florida College of Medicine. He has served as President and Technical Committee Chair of the Florida Association of Blood Banks. He currently serves as the Chair of the Scientific Medical and Technical Committee and Chair of the Journal Club for America’s Blood Centers. He is an assessor and abstract reviewer for AABB and is a manuscript reviewer for the journal Transfusion. He is the co-recipient of a 2011 ABC Foundation Grant for the Get Healthy Wellness Program. Dr. Gammon’s research has been published in various peer-reviewed journals and he has been a featured speaker at numerous national and international conferences on blood banking and transfusion medicine.


Tisha M. Foster, M.D.



Chief Medical Affairs Officer

Dr. Tisha M. Foster joined FBC in 2008 and is responsible for therapeutic apheresis, cellular therapies, and FBC’s participation in the National Marrow Donor Program. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Central Oklahoma and her medical degree from the University of Oklahoma. She completed her residency at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and her fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin/BloodCenter of Wisconsin. Prior to joining FBC, Dr. Foster served as medical director at BloodNetUSA in Lakeland (Fla.), where her responsibilities included supervision of the Transfusion Service Laboratory at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, donor eligibility, therapeutic apheresis, and ensuring regulatory compliance throughout the blood center.


Alicia Bellido Prichard, MBA MT(ASCP)SBB CQA (ASQ)



Vice President of Blood Systems

Alicia Bellido Prichard joined FBC in 2008 and is responsible for donor collections, biologics manufacturing and distribution, and transportation logistics throughout the organization’s 21- county service area. She received her bachelor’s degree in laboratory sciences from Florida International University and her executive master’s degree in business administration from Florida Atlantic University.  She is a Specialist in Blood Banking (AABB) and a Certified Quality Auditor (ASQ); she also serves as an AABB assessor.  Before joining FBC, she worked as director of quality assurance, vice president of laboratory services and director of reference laboratory at other blood centers throughout Florida.  Prichard has also served as president of Florida Association of Blood Banks.

 

Susan Forbes



Vice President of Marketing and Community Development

Susan Forbes joined FBC in 2009. She is responsible for positioning the organization positively within the communities it serves so that the public reacts favorably to the act of donating blood with FBC. To fulfill this purpose, the Marketing and Donor Recruitment Department has a broad mandate to educate members of the public about the benefits of blood donation and to encourage them to become blood donors. Forbes is responsible for leading the marketing, public relations and communications team, as well as the team of donor recruiters covering Central and South Florida and is the senior leader in developing new business accounts and strategic partnerships.  She serves on FBC’s Donor Engagement and Public Responsibility Committee, as a board member of the Foundation for America’s Blood Centers (FABC) and she is a member of the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB). From 2001 to 2008, Susan was news director and assistant news director at the CBS television affiliate in Central Florida. She also served in reporting and news management positions at television stations in Texas, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Connecticut.
